Law Office of David Mastbaum
The primary goal of the Law Office of David Mastbaum is to provide skilled legal services that are affordable to individuals and businesses. In order to achieve this goal we continuously evaluate all costs related to the practice of law, including overhead. We attempt to reduce or eliminate unnecessary costs, consistent with offering our clients the highest quality legal representation.
Accordingly, we carefully select and use the latest technology to make our law practice more efficient. In addition, law clerks and legal assistants perform some services, under an attorney's supervision, when their participation contributes to cost management without compromising quality. Faculty members at the University of Colorado School of Law who serve as counsel to the Firm are available for consultation on complex legal matters when we believe their experience or expertise will result in lower costs.
The Firm's practice is a general one with an emphasis on business law, trademarks and copyrights, employment law, and litigation in state and federal courts. We specialize in representing businesses and other entities many of whom are engaged in complex technical and scientific work, including computer software development.
An important aspect of our practice is preventive law. We alert and counsel our clients about actions that will minimize the risk of future litigation.
Before litigating any matter we prepare a thorough analysis of the facts and the law in order to provide our clients with a realistic appraisal of the likelihood of success and the costs of litigation. This type of analysis allows our clients to evaluate their options at the outset and to make the most informed decision about the course of action they may wish to pursue. We have found that it is better to give clients a realistic appraisal of their case at the start and avoid the expense and disruption of litigation if there is little likelihood of success or if the cost will exceed the probable value of even a successful outcome.
Finally, we negotiate fee arrangements that take account of the individualized needs and financial resources of each client. We will not, however, represent any client or take on any matter if we do not believe we can provide high quality legal services that the client can afford.
